Designed in collaboration with Drager Safety EU while at Plexus Engineering, the Drager X-act 7000 is a portable gas analyzer that allows users to quickly and precisely measure specific gases in the field to help discover hazards in an environment before they become disasters.

UNDERSTANDING THE USER
The team began by gathering key insights through ethnographic research and user interviews with the primary users, industrial hygenist and fire brigaders, on a visit to some of Drager’s primary customers in Germany.
IDEATE, TEST, ITERATE
With these insights the team developed solutions that were then tested with users to gain feedback around the ergonomics of the button user interface and the challenge of portability.
The final outcome was a product that is more comfortable, easier to use, and fits in with the rest of the Drager Safety product line. It has since been launched as a new Drager product and has many positive reviews.
